| Janas Art Gallery is an on-line gallery of Jan Janas’ body of work. Not only can one view Janas’ latest fine art paintings and oil pastels, but her work will also be available for purchase. Both original pieces and Giclee prints can be purchased through the site.
 Jan Janas has a degree in art education with continuing art classes taken at the University of New Mexico and the Chicago Art Institute. Her works have been purchased by many private and corporate entities. She has participated in juried museum shows, solo shows, and has co-authored and published 3 books on silk painting. Janas is also well known for her silk painting work and teaches adults throughout the USA. Janas has recently moved to San Diego, CA. She will be teaching art classes at the San Diego Art Department on Ray Street in San Diego beginning in October 2008.
 “My work is Expressionistic and somewhat Abstract in style. I try to draw or paint what I feel about my subject. I speak my thoughts visually."
My plein air work is done with oil pastels. I suggest an environment rather than give realistic details. Each work represents a shard of the day I encountered as I painted. Symbolism plays a big part in my drawings. To me the drawings are like writing in my diary with all the details of the day.
In my oil paintings I fill the canvas with broad strokes of color that fill the simplified forms found in my compositions. They are “in your face” expressive yet they can resonate subjectively with the viewer.”
